If you're looking for a break from the hectic holiday stress (and who isn't?) why not head out to Minglewood Hall and unwind with one of their Christmas-themed concerts? I've attended many events at Minglewood Hall, and trust me when I tell you their Christmas offerings are not to be missed.
First up on the agenda is A Memphis Christmas, which features Jake Vincent, Daw$on, DJ Ben Murray, DJ A-Wall, and promises a prize for the two ugliest Christmas sweaters. (C'Mon, you know you want to be there for that!) The event takes place Thursday night at 9 p.m. at 1884 Lounge, which is honestly one of my favorite places around town to see shows. 1884 Lounge is located inside Minglewood Hall, and provides a smaller, more personal space to listen to music.
On Saturday local legends Lucero (try saying that three times fast!) will be performing their annual Christmas show, Lucero Family Christmas. The event is all ages, and you can grab tickets here. Again, I know I sound like a concert promoter, but if you've never had the experience of seeing Lucero live, drop what you're doing and grab tickets to this now. Frontman Ben Nichols is a truly gifted songwriter, and Lucero's live shows are nothing short of awe-inspiring. Really, you can't call yourself a Memphian is you haven't been to a Lucero show. The band has earned praise from around the globe, and they more than live up to their reputation. The show starts at 8 p.m., and also features rockabilly soul singer Nikki Hill. Hill is a powerhouse vocalist and amazing performer. Like I said, this is a show that you won't want to miss!
