I had some people ask if we were going to cover or review WrestleMania 32, whether that be match by match or just the show as a whole. And without asking my 901-brothers I decided against it. The reason being, that I didn't trust or think WWE could turn the event into something worth covering or reviewing. For the most part, I feel pretty justified about that.
Don't get me wrong, there were some fun "moments" last night. Starting with the Intercontinental Championship (Woo. Woo. Woo), Lesnar/Ambrose was as brutal as expected, and the Divas title (now called Women's Championship with a sweet new belt). The women's match was tons of fun, I thoroughly enjoyed that match. Though at the end I was left wanting more, even with Shane O'Mac's big dive off the top of the cage. As far as the women go, I still don't trust WWE to strengthen that division like they say they’re going to do. They haven't been able to in the past, not to mention they haven't shown the interest to do it now.
Basically at this point WWE has become a magic show, performing skillful slight of hand acts such as look over here at the shiny things, like Steve Austin, The Rock, HBK, and Cena. While with the other the hand, the real trick is taking place, which is exactly what the fans feared. They have no god damn idea what they're doing! At WrestleManias in the past this procedure was a normal thing, but it's never meant to be a distraction from the product. The product that should be wrestling and good storytelling. This year it was different, those shiny legends felt akin to more of a distraction to try and save this WrestleMania, and nothing more. The WWE not having any clue what to do couldn't have been more evident than in the New Day match and the WWE title match.
Overall, WM32 was just okay. Nothing quite worth remembering or anything that felt like it tipped the scale, in my opinion. I'm more than likely alone in this shit-stained boat. But hey, it's the boat I'm on now. I can only hope a life line will be tossed my way soon. That being said I'll probably keep watching WWE (because apparently I'm a glutton for punishment), but I won't give it much more thought than that. I once would daydream of what could be, or something fun about the product. Can't say I will do that anymore for the time being. I've become another faceless wrestling observer, as Stephanie McMahon proclaimed us all to be last night. Hmmmm.... so much for not being a review right!? Well fuck me....I'm off to eat my Booty-Os! Beeecaauusseee Nerd 901 rocks! Nerd 901 rocks!! Clap you monkeys!!
