Memphis Dining Scene Continues to Heat Up

Time to get your grub on! Over the next couple of months, Memphians can look forward to a variety of fun, new restaurants that will be opening around town. Here's a quick rundown of what's on the horizon:

SOUTHERN SOCIAL

The team behind Downtown's wine bar Flight will soon launch a new restaurant out east. Few details have been released, aside from the fact that Southern Social will be located at 2285 S. Germantown Road and they'll be offering a full bar and a high quality dining experience. Fun fact: Southern Social is taking over the spot that formerly housed Elfo's.

THE KITCHEN (AT SHELBY FARMS)

A new restaurant that's slated to open inside Shelby Farms park, The Kitchen will provide a unique farm-to-table dining experiencing that seeks to foster "community through food." It's a terrific concept, and I highly recommend you check them out once they're open. Fun fact: Elon Musk's brother, Kimbal, is one of the co-founders.

ZAKA BOWL

A new vegetarian restaurant is slated to open in East Memphis. Located in the Erinway Shopping Center, Zaka Bowl will offer patrons the chance to build their own vegetarian bowls using locally sourced ingredients and a variety of house made sauces.

CHAR

Mississippi-based CHAR restaurant will open a second location in Memphis this fall. Known for their fresh seafood, free range chicken, and premium meats, CHAR will offer a great upscale dining experience near the University of Memphis area. Fun fact: They have a piano bar!

And finally, I feel a little odd including this one on the list, but since so many people have been wondering what's being built in the Ridgeway Trace shopping center, I can confirm that the newly erected building will house a Panda Express (fast casual Chinese dining).
