The GameStop Expo happened today, and the Tokyo Game Show starts tomorrow, but I’d like to bring the focus back home to the 901 for a moment. The Nerd901 group loves to find and meet new people, especially those spreading their love of nerd culture.
Therefore, I’d like to draw attention to a couple of groups here in Memphis. Recently Nick, and I have been in touch with the guys at the Pixels and Papers podcast and the 2 Player Co-Op podcast. Each of these podcast specialize in different subjects, but they are equally as passionate about their love for geeky culture.
Ernie and Derek at the Pixels and Papers podcast discuss the many facets of RPGs – mostly tabletop, but they throw in video games often. Being a relatively recent lover of tabletop RPGs, their podcast is a fantastic source of entertainment and info for me. Kings of off-topic tangents (love it guys), Ernie and Derek have hilarious banter, and I would highly recommend their show if you love RPGs as much as I do. Nick and I even made an appearance on the Pixels and Papers podcast (this episode has some adult language, which is 90% my bad), so check them out on SoundCloud or iTunes.
This past weekend Nick and I discovered another set of brothers, Kevin and Sean White, the hosts of the 2 Player Co-Op podcast. These two are very similar to Nick and I. They were inspired by the Kinda Funny guys, like Nick and I, to talk about what has been a huge part of their lives, video games. These two guys definitely have the banter of two brothers!
I've listened to a few episodes since finding out about Kevin and Sean, and they are very knowledgeable. I really loved the Back of the Box Challenge, where they read the back of an old video game while omitting any info that would obviously give any the name of the game, and they other player guesses the game. Check out 2 Player Co-Op on YouTube and SoundClound.
Remember to support your local nerds including the Pixels and Papers podcast, the 2 Player Co-Op podcast, and 901 Comics! Cheers!
