LEGO Mania has hit the Memphis Zoo. Whether you're young in age or young at heart, Nature Connects: Art with LEGO Bricks is sure to provide an awesome time.
This award winning installation was created by New York artist Sean Kenney, using more than 2 million LEGO pieces. The Memphis Zoo will be hosting 15 of Kenney's LEGO sculptures, now through July 9, and is free with your Zoo admission. Nature Connects has been touring the globe, with sculptures on display everywhere from Canada to Taiwan.
The sculptures on display in Memphis feature more than 460,000 LEGO bricks and required more than 4,000 man hours to install.
Nature Connects is open daily on the West side of the Zoo. Information about hours and admission prices can be found here. (It's worth noting that the Memphis Zoo has suspended free Tuesday afternoon admissions until April.)
The gallery (click on the images to move through it) shows a few pictures from friend of the site, Hugo Reynolds. He is a local photographer, and you've seen some of his work before here on the site. He took the pictures we used for our story on Memphis Comics and Fantasy Con. If you like what you see, you can contact him via his website, www.photobyhugo.net.
