What's up, guys!? As we promised we are going to continue our coverage of E3 2017! Monday we were treated with two press conferences. Up first was Ubisoft, which I'm going to cover for you now. Adam brought you the coverage from the PlayStation conference earlier. Let's not waste any more time. Here's how the Ubisoft conference went.
Mario + Rabbids: Kingdom Battle
Ubisoft CEO, Yves Guillemot, came out to the stage to kick things off. We knew about Mario + Rabbids for weeks now, but we didn't know how it was going to be presented. Guillemot talked how he was excited to be working with Nintendo and all that jazz. What he said next throw the crowd into an uproar. He introduced possibly the happiest man on earth at all times, Shigeru Miyamoto. Miyamoto, the acclaimed video game designer, joined Guillemot on stage with toy hand cannons to talk a bit about the game. We were also treated with fun poses to make the internet go crazy. This game is billed as a Mario meets Rabbids meets XCOM style of gameplay. Is it a game we needed? Probably not. Is it a game which will take the world by storm? Probably so.
Assassin's Creed: Origins
Up next we were given a more in-depth look into the new Assassin's Creed game. We spoke a bit about the game over at our EA coverage. So, I won't go much more into it here, but we were given a bit more gameplay.
This game seemed to be a mixture of Just Cause and Need for Speed. It seems like the player can drive, fly, or steer any form of vehicle they seemed reasonable for their current mission. I can't speak for everyone else on the site, but I wasn't a huge fan of the original game. I can't see myself spending any time with this game. But if you're an adrenaline junkie this game may be right up your alley. Like the other car games shown this year, the graphics look fantastic. E3 2017: The year of car and racing games
South Park: The Fractured, But Whole
There isn’t much I need to say about this game. Most of us already know what this game is about. The pseudo-squeal to South Park: Stick of Truth, this game features the all the characters from the TV series. This time instead of dressing up as Lord of the Rings knock-off characters, the kids play as superheroes. The creators of South Park, Trey Parker, and Matt Stone, take a page from Marvel's book and pit the kids against one another in a Civil War so to speak. It will be nice if they can stick the release date for this October. As we all know this game has already hit multiple delays. To top off their presentation, a mobile game was announced too, Phone Destroyer.
We don't know much about this game. Other than Elijah Woods has some part of it and it's a creepy ass VR game. Other than that information was scarce.
Skull & Bones
At first glance, I think maybe… maybe this would be a fun pirate game. I have to say the cinematic package shown for the game was breathtaking. I even thought Sea of Thieves may be in trouble. But then we were shown the gameplay, and I went back to giving zero effs. Another massive multiplayer game, but only being able to control the ships. Sorry but count me out. I'm sure there will be an audience for the game, and I hope there will be (I never want a game to do poorly). But I don’t think this is a game for me, and it was way too long of a trailer… yet again.
The Ubisoft Family Games
I won't spend a lot of time here. Just Dance was announced. No shocker here. Though, there was some Sub-Zero/Scorpion looking ninjas on stage dancing. Not sure Ed Boone signed off on that, but I'm glad the ninjas were able to find their true calling. After that, a game called Star Link was announced. Some people won't let Toy-To-Life games die. In this game, you build and customize a ship to destroy your enemies and explore planets. Another game you have to spend a boatload of cash to be worth a damn. Hard pass.
Far Cry 5
Finally, we get into the heavy hitters! Dan Hay, Executive Producer Ubisoft Montreal, came out on stage to introduce the game. Dan was not fucking around either. He jumped right into the game. We were shown not only awesome gameplay but an entertaining trailer backed by some fun music. We got a glimpse of more characters as well, like Grace Armstrong (Gun for Hire), Nick Rye (Pilot), and Boomer (Dog for Hire), all there to help you stop the evil cult controlling the small town. This gameplay trailer sold me on the game! I was doubtful at first, but now I'm hooked. I can't wait to jump into this world.
Beyond Good and Evil 2
Wow! It finally happened! After 15 years of fans all around the world waiting for this game, it was re-introduced into their lives. A beautiful CGI, 4-minute video united all the video gaming world all over again. Surely, this game is years away from coming to any of our consoles, so this gives all of us time to go back and jump into this world yet again.
